How it's made

Handcrafted by artisan partners, using traditional techniques.

We commission a small network of artisan workshops and craft cooperatives across thirty-one countries, paying fair value for time and skill. Each piece is made using traditional tools and techniques passed through generations (hand-loomed, hand-thrown, hand-carved, or hand-dyed), then finished and inspected in-house before it goes to the floor.

Why we do this

Trade that carries a community forward.

Ancient Traces International began as a social enterprise, a way to connect skilled makers in rural workshops with people abroad who value what they make. Every commission is built to do more than fill an order: it's designed to work in four directions at once.

Fair Livelihoods

We work directly with artisans and pay fair, transparent prices for their time and skill, turning traditional craft into steady, dependable income.

Local Economies

Materials, tools, and labor are sourced within each community, so a single commission supports dozens of local livelihoods beyond the maker's own.

Cultural Knowledge

Every technique we commission comes with its history: the region, the materials, and the practices behind it, documented and shared, not left behind.

Global Appreciation

By bringing these traditions to new audiences, we hope to build lasting appreciation for the skill and history of the cultures that created them.
